Manhattan erupts following the acquittal of a white police officer for the death of a black teenager; during the resulting turmoil, a news team struggles with its own issues of race, class, police violence, gender dynamics, history, truth, success, and the characters’ unique perspectives on each — choosing whether to involve themselves in the story, or to simply watch a city, or each other, burn.
